As a proud member of the American Hernia Society and the Abdominal Core Health Quality Collaborative, Dr. Coykendall specializes in hernia operations. In 2017, he joined over 400 other surgeons in the country who prospectively gather data for the ACHQC. The goal of this organization is to improve outcomes for all hernia patients. By studying real time results and obtaining constant performance feedback, the society fulfills its mission of "providing the right operation for the right patient at the right time."

In 2023 Dr. Coykendall was recognized as a Verified Surgeon of Quality with only 44 other surgeons throughout the country.
